3. Backward lean (pole too long)

If the pole is too long, you have to lean backward to reach the ground. This backward lean has several effects:

  • Reduced hip flexion: Your hip is more extended, so the hip flexors are in a lengthened position.
  • Reduced demand: Because your hip is already extended, the hip flexors have to do less work to lift your leg.
